Responsibilities
As a Senior Fund Accountant with Hines, you will ensure the accuracy and propriety of all financial data and reports maintained and prepared for projects, funds and their entities and shall provide the Assistant Controller/Controller with consolidated business and financial plans, interim, year-end and other requested reports, for review and distribution to ownership and executive management. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, including notes, under relevant GAAP (Lux GAAP or IFRS) on a quarterly and annual basis
- Prepare accounting treatment papers for transactions or upon the introduction of new, amended or first time adoption of accounting standards with support from AC/C
- Liaison with in-country finance teams to ensure consistency of accounting policies and accounting treatment of transactions for financial reporting purposes
- Prepare Luxembourg tier entity statutory financial statements (Lux GAAP)
- Prepare Fund level annual operating budgets and review annual entity operating budgets
- Review and analyze monthly project draw requests and financial statements
- Prepare and review regular liquidity reports for the Fund(s)
- Maintain general ledger chart of accounts for entities to ensure completeness, accuracy and consistency
- Review general ledgers, monthly, for accuracy and completeness; review monthly general journal entries, including accruals, prepayments and reclassifications
- Prepare and reconcile inter-company accounts
- Review and authorize bank reconciliations on a monthly basis for Luxembourg tier entities
- Run month end closing procedures
- Review and preparation of quarterly and annual reporting packs for Luxembourg tier entities
- Liaison with in-country finance teams to ensure complete and correct submission of reporting packs
- Prepare and submit audit work-papers to auditors within the required time frame
- Notify auditors of potential audit issues, material transactions which occurred during fiscal year, and any subsequent events. Answer questions and resolve any issues that may arise
- Prepare information and promptly answer queries for audits, as needed
Minimum Requirements Include
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline from an accredited institution or equivalent
- Three or more years’ experience in industry with an international outlook or a public accounting firm
- Real estate experience is preferred although not a strict requirement
- Professional accounting qualification, or part qualification preferred, such as ACCA or CPA
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and one other European language
- Ability to read and interpret a variety of manuals, journals, periodicals, abstracts and financial reports
- Ability to understand complex financial and corporate structures
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and excellent analytical skills
- Knowledge of Lux GAAP and IFRS
- Complete special projects as directed by Management
- Training of other staff using technical skill set
- Act as a point of reference for the team
- Comply with all internal policies and procedures
- Provide assistance to Management as requested
- Take responsibility to add value and contribute meaningfully to the whole team.
- Assume additional responsibilities as delegated by Controller
